Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Secret Santa Sign Up
Please comment on this journal entry if you wish to sign up for Secret Santa, I will then organise it so we are paired up and you will get a note telling you who you are drawing for, you must then keep it a SECRET who you are drawing for.  In December I will set up a gallery and you can submit your dragons (title them with the person's username so they can find their dragon).

The Big Christmas Challenge
Well everyone seems to be busy, entries have been less recently and Christmas is always busy so I have combined November and December. This will also mean that if you do want to use your dragon for Christmas Cards (I checked all the stock rules and this should be possible but please do read their rules first to be sure) then you will have time.  Should also mean we have more time to work on our Secret Santa dragons.

Don't worry, its not all Christmas stock for those of you who don't want to draw a Christmas dragon/don't celebrate Christmas.

My current balance is: 1464 points, this will be used to buy next year's subscription which is about 9700 points.  

Note: points must be sent to :iconscellanis: as group points not enabled yet.

As usual you may do a dragon based on 1, 2 or even all of the pictures.
Please make sure you read and follow the individual stock artist's rules for the picture you choose.
If you plan to make Christmas Cards you MUST note your chosen stock artist and credit the images correctly.  They enjoy seeing what people can make from their stock.

You must credit the stock image in your own image description.

Clicking to change my group icon it says: Select a 100x50 image smaller than 30 KB

Most people make the group and then hold a contest to create the group icon which promotes the group at the same time if you do it with news articles and prizes.

I was thinking I'd announce a date when I post the October result, if I close sign up on the 12th then I could draw the names out of a hat and get the notes done on saturday. If I last long enough tonight before the pain consumes me I should post the October winner today since its the 8th.
