January challenge

SECRET SANTA!!
Can I just remind everyone that if you take part in our Secret Santa you MUST -
1. Draw a dragon by 25th December or let me know why it will be late/when it will be finished.
2. SUBMIT YOUR DRAGON TO THE GROUP'S SECRET SANTA GALLERY FOLDER!
(what is the point in taking part if you are not going to give out your secret santa before Christmas, why hold onto it untill it is 2 or 3 weeks late and leave me stressing over whether I need to find a replacement to draw a dragon for your person)

With this in mind I have 1 person who is ill so they are allowed to be late, a few people who submitted a WIP on time (including me) so thats ok but they should still be trying to finish it, 1 person who drew their dragon by the 22nd but did not submit it to the group and 6 people with no sign of life.

I have today sent notes to the 7 people to chase up Secret Santas. If you are not actually planning to finish it you still need to tell me so I can find someone else to draw a replacement dragon. We can't leave people without dragons since mostly everyone waiting has already drawn their dragons.

Since I said yesterday I wasn't closing the Christmas challenge until next week you still have until the end of Sunday (your time) to submit to that gallery. I'll close it after work on Monday.

I was just looking in my message center and I found a piece of stock so awesome it needs to have its own special challenge!

Also please remember if you use any stock I haven't suggested as part of the challenge please check it is:
1. Submitted in one of the stock galleries on deviantart
2. Check the stock artists rules for any restrictions on use.

Also I saw someone submitting photos they found on google as free stock in one of the stock groups I watch, just remember that this is not ok. Despite what they may think about their ability to jump through the gaping loopholes in Deviantart rules, if the image isn't their own photograph stay away from it. If the real artist found you selling prints and took exception it could get messy.

New Gallery folder!
With the introduction of the commission section in the journal I have decided to add a commission folder in the gallery so that if you make a dragon commission for someone you can upload it to our gallery. That means if you advertise commissions in our journal people can see examples of what they could get by viewing the folder in our gallery.

The gallery folder submission rules:

1. Only dragon commissions
2. Must be made by a member, its not open to affiliates but doesn't have to be made for a member.
3. Should be an example of a commission, that's work someone has paid the you to make not a free gift.
4. Can be any medium, I will even accept writing so long as it is a genuine commission for someone.

I would expect when you submit a commission to DA you'll be writing in the deviation description who paid for it so I'll be moderating submission based on the information in your image descriptions.

Note - you can submit old commissions, it doesn't have to be new work for this folder.

BTW - for the commissions folder. Copyright rules apply, for example, I wont be accepting adoptable toothless images as you should not be selling copyrighted characters. A one off private commission of toothless maybe but not sheets of adoptables. Please be careful what you try to sell, especially if you use stock to make it.
